Corporate Counsel The candidate will provide direct support to the Chief Legal Officer and SVP Legal and Compliance in all matters. Assists in the management and coordination of various legal matters affecting company, including legal demands involving or affecting the company (directly or indirectly), review of all contracts entered into between the company and all outside vendors, and advising the company of any and all legal requirements imposed on the business. Works directly with other members of the Legal and Compliance Department to analyze and advise the business on legal developments concerning every aspect of company’s business. Assists in the development, enhancement and creation of systems, policies and procedures as they directly relate to handling of legal matters by the company. Assists in the coordination with senior management across the organization to ensure that each business unit is advised of the current status of the law effecting such unit, in order to increase business compliance with state and federal regulations and to minimize company’s exposure to otherwise avoidable adverse legal consequences. Participates in departmental meetings to discuss Legal and Compliance Department policies and procedures. Works with other departments to develop better systems, communication & synergy between the Legal and Compliance Department and the rest of the company. Ensures that the Legal and Compliance Department provides world-class customer service to all other business units. Participates in team related activities and meetings. Utilizes creative methods to generate results and to foster teamwork. Completes special projects as requested. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Juris doctorate degree from an ABA-accredited law school. Licensure in good standing in at least one of the United States, preferably Texas required. Must have 2+ years of experience in the active practice of law, including a broad range of negotiation, and transactional experience. Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate team members. Extremely strong written and verbal communication and conflict resolution skills required. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office essential. Excellent organizational and time management skills with strong attention to detail essential.
