ProfileParalegal-Trademark and Transnational The Candidate will be responsible for preparing and filing trademark applications and trademark registration related filings, and docketing and managing trademark filing deadlines and key events. Contracting generation and contracting administration (i.e. preparing agreements for franchise transactions based on client forms of agreements and developing and maintaining tracking systems for contract processes). Supporting attorneys on transactions (due diligence assistance, contract preparation, preparation of closing binders, etc.). Supporting attorneys in managing franchise relationship processes (e.g., preparing notices of default, cure and termination tracking response and cure deadlines preparing cease and desist and other demand letters). Supporting vehicle rental law practice in researching, reviewing and summarizing federal and state laws and cases that impact vehicle rental law and contracts and reviewing and revising form vehicle rental contract language as directed by attorneys to ensure compliance with updated federal and state law. Assisting the firm’s attorneys and other legal assistants in a variety of other projects and tasks.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have 3-5 years of experience as a Paralegal with a Private Law Firm between 10 and 50 attorneys or with a company. Must have experience for that time with Trademark, Transnational, and/or contracting work. Paralegal certificate is preferred. In-house experience with contract administration is required. Effective communication and writing skills are needed. Ability to type, format, and generate contracts and other documents in both MS Word and (80 – 100 wpm) and Adobe Acrobat with proficiency in those programs as well as MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, and Internet-based search engines and research tools (e.g., West law Next) is plus. In-house experience with contract administration is required.
