Paralegal II - Labor and Employment The candidate will assist with employment, labor, compensation and benefits matters. Assist with company investigations and personnel-related issues. Assist with and oversee employment based immigration matters. Provide legal support to Leave and Benefit business groups. Create, evaluate and implement processes/practices to improve claims management. Function as liaison, for assigned area, between corporate, distribution centers, stores and vendors. Oversee daily activities related to claims, agency and litigation (employment and workerâ€™s compensation) to include status tracking in appropriate management systems. Assist in-house and outside counsel in employment related legal proceedings. Compose and prepare confidential correspondence, reports, and other complex documents. Determine necessity for attorney review and make appropriate recommendations. Research and draft responses to legal questions. Analyze data and prepare summaries. Handle indemnity claims and contractual matters. Review and process invoices and check requests to ensure timely payment in accordance with Legal Dept. guidelines. Assist in development of junior positions. Lead, participate and plan various meetings and training sessions for assigned area.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have high school diploma or equivalent. Bachelorâ€™s degree in paralegal studies or similar field of study preferred. Paralegal certificate preferred. Must have 3+ years Legal Assistant/Paralegal experience supporting employee and labor relations or similar work experience. Strong understanding of employee relations and litigation process is essential. Experience performing legal research and operating within case management systems is needed.
