Profile

Deputy Director of Discovery The candidate will serve as a legal expert on all matters related to discovery (to wit, the legal obligation to identify, preserve and produce potentially relevant electronically stored information.) Will provide substantive advice, coordination and training to the Group’s trial teams and litigation support staff, as well as work with other firm business units to ensure that firm effectively and efficiently complies with its discovery obligations. Stay abreast of legal and technological developments relevant to discovery and ediscovery, including industry standard practices Be a subject matter expert relating to ILG’s processes and practices related to discovery and ediscovery, to include all aspects of ILG’s Uniform Document Protocols. Work closely with firm’s Director of Discovery and other ILG members to develop and improve ILG’s processes and practices for managing discovery generally and ediscovery in particular in an ever-changing environment Advise and assist ILG Team Leaders and outside trial counsel with complex electronic discovery issues, keep them abreast of pertinent discovery legal and technical developments and guide them in efficient and effective compliance with discovery obligations When requested, develop and execute comprehensive litigation or investigation discovery plans Work closely with the Information Technology unit (ITeD) charged with supporting ILG’s discovery compliance Work with ILG Paralegals in training and managing ILG’s discovery vendors. Assist Corporate and other firm business units in developing discovery-compliant practices and systems Develop and execute discovery training programs for any audience impacted by firm’s ediscovery policies, practices or procedures Track and report the effectiveness of ILG’s discovery activities and all costs associated therewith. Be a force in achieving ILG’s strategic goals

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must have a J.D. degree from an ABA accredited or equivalent institution, a license to practice law in one state in the United States, 7+ years of complex litigation and ediscovery experience and possess stellar oral and written advocacy skills. The ediscovery experience is afforded.A thorough knowledge of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedures and Federal Rules of Evidence is preferred. A working knowledge of EU and other non-US data protection and privacy laws is preferred. Proficiency with ediscovery tools including Boolean and concept search tools, early case assessment tools, standard review tools, and enhanced or technology assisted review tools is preferred. Must be experienced discovery attorney to serve as Deputy Director of Discovery, along with the firm’s Director of Discovery.
