Compliance Counsel The candidate will be integral in the non-product regulatory compliance program for firm, ensuring that firm promotes an organizational culture that encourages ethical business conduct and a commitment to compliance with the law, resulting in a positive image to associates, customers, vendors and the community. Collaborate and help develop a Compliance team that is viewed as a well-regarded and highly valued strategic partner to the organization. Analyze data gathered through observation, internal and external audits, interviews, surveys, and reports, identifying and reporting findings, results, and recommendations. Supervise, investigate, and resolve regulatory compliance issues. Deliver quality training regarding regulatory compliance. Interpret legal restrictions and design charts and tables that communicate compliance/legal parameters in an understandable format. Provide professional legal research and oversee research conducted by others. Research and draft company-wide and department policies and procedures with respect to compliance. Investigate and resolve compliance issues and provide documentation and draft solutions. Respond to consumer complaints and Department of Insurance requests. Work closely with the Compliance Manager on various enterprise initiatives and regulatory compliance projects. Analyze and manage the legal and regulatory insurance updates in all states and provide communications to the organization.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have JD degree with strong academic credentials and active member of the State Bar (any jurisdiction). Should have 3-5 years of prior legal experience. Insurance compliance background is preferred. Proficient at using Microsoft business products (Word, Excel, Outlook) is needed. Strong understanding of relationship between insurer, agent, insured, insurance laws/regulations, licensing requirements, and structure of insurance companies is must. Experience with insurance compliance research websites (Westlaw and Oden) and internet searches is essential.
