Assistant General Counsel The candidate will be advising union officers and staff on a wide range of legal matters, including collective bargaining negotiations, strikes, organizing campaigns, corporate accountability programs, employment discrimination, immigration, corporate governance and federal election law, personnel matters and internal union affairs. Will be representing the International Union and its chartered local unions and councils in legal proceedings before federal or state agencies r courts, particularly matters before the National Labor Relations Board. Must have 5+ years of experience in labor and employment law. Relevant experience includes practice before NLRB, EEOC and other federal or state agencies, advising labor organizations on internal union matters, including personnel matters, and litigating civil actions on behalf of labor organizations, including claims arising under the LMRA, LMRDA and state and federal employment laws. Must have or obtain DC Bar membership. Should have a strong academic background as well as excellent research, writing, analytical, advocacy and interpersonal skills.
