Mortgage Foreclosure Litigation Paralegal The candidate will assist attorneys in multiple offices in their representation of banking and financial institutions in litigation relating to mortgages and foreclosure actions. Will assist with the preparation of court and agency filings, draft documents, e-file with both state and federal courts and perform a variety of case and project management duties. Perform general research utilizing Westlaw, PACER and the internet; cite check and proof read court documents and/or legal memoranda. Perform administrative tasks as needed. Manage cases independently while under attorney supervision. Maintain positive contact with clients and observe confidentiality of client matters. Keep accurate time records. Follow the ethical requirements as set forth by the Rules of Professional Conduct of the State. Responsible for maintaining systems to collect, store and retrieve data, whether it is paper or electronic data. Conduct substantial factual research, and legal research and assemble for attorney use. Research may include cite checking, proofreading of documents and transcript review. This process may involve utilizing additional software applications to assist in the compilation of tables of contents and tables of authority. Prepare documents as directed by attorneys, to assist in the compilation of work product and other such tasks, such as assembling notebooks, preparing correspondence, drafting, proofing or editing reports to clients, drafting and maintaining document indices, preparing witness binders, abstracts, spreadsheets, and preparing, proofing or editing appendices for briefs. Communicate with clients, government agencies or officials, consultants and various other parties on a regular basis to collect and assemble information. Communicate findings to attorney(s). Apply knowledge of the litigation process and legal procedures to tasks. Utilize and have sufficient competency in the various computerized litigation support software applications to manage all phases of electronic document collection, review, production and retention. Draft client reporting forms summarizing allegations and claims, case status and team information. Assist attorneys with client reporting and communications. Draft formulaic motions and shell discovery requests and responses. Assist attorneys with court filings and submissions (including e-filings). Maintain internal case database with case information and deadlines. Manage and organize case documents including client loan documents. Assist attorney with review of documents and preparation for production. Responsible for overseeing other paralegals and temporary help as needed. Train and mentor temporary employees or entry level paralegals and project assistants on current assignments. Record daily time entries in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Firm. Perform administrative tasks such as photocopying, faxing, filing. Must be specifically listed on resume in order to be considered for this position. Bachelor s Degree is required. 3+ years litigation paralegal experience required in a legal environment. Experience with PACER and federal/state court dockets/procedures is essential.Paralegal Certificate is preferred. ELT litigation or banking and/or mortgage-related litigation experience is a plus. Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe, Excel and litigation support applications such as Concordance, Relativity, IPRO, LiveNote, Text Map, and PACER. Knowledge of legal research tools such as Westlaw and LexisNexis is essential. Blue booking and cite checking experience is preferred. Must have interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate in person, by e-mail and telephone and follow the instructions effectively from a diverse group of clients, attorneys and staff and provide information with ordinary courtesy and tact.
