Deputy General Counsel The candidate will lead, manage, and develop a team of in-house counsel and legal staff. Oversee development of the legal department strategic plan; develop major goals; lead efforts to achieve legal department key objectives. Lead major project teams. Partner with outside counsel as needed to represent the Company with respect to litigation, special projects, and other matters requiring specialized expertise. Identify and analyze legal issues and present clear recommendations to all levels of Company personnel. Draft, review, and revise key documents and policies. Advise management regarding conflicts of interest, related party transactions, and adherence to Company policies. Keep informed of legislation, regulations, and legal developments affecting the Company. Other duties as assigned.
Qualification and ExperienceThe candidate should have a JD from an accredited US law school; licensed to practice in SC, NC, or GA. Should have 10-15 years of relevant law firm and in-house legal department experience within a financial institution. Experiencing leading legal and project teams. Strong ability to engage with leadership, influence, manage effectively, and inspire colleagues. Highly collaborative with ability to work and communicate effectively across all functions and organizational levels. Organized and able to effectively prioritize multiple complex concurrent issues in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment. Participate in all required compliance training, including Bank Secrecy Act/anti-money laundering training, as well as internal and external training programs.
