Profile

Counsel, Employment & Labor Duties: Draft complex documentation. Track record of working perfectly in a high volume environment. Reporting to the Senior Vice President and General Counsel, responsible for legal affairs and providing legal support to management. Reporting to the Senior VP & General Counsel (GC), will be responsible for representing the company and providing legal advice and counsel to internal clients regarding all aspects of employment law and regulation, including labor and employment relations, performance management, labor and employment policies, and employment litigation; labor disputes; employee benefits and compensation; providing training to all levels of the organization on employment and labor law matters; federal contractor compliance with OFCCP regulations; EEOC and CHRO matters and charges; diversity and inclusion initiatives; labor and bargaining initiatives and strategies, including significant union negotiations; and immigration matters. Counsel will also have responsibilities related to certain healthcare matters including contract negotiations; transactions; medical staff issues; patient care issues and health care compliance and regulatory compliance matters. Perform legal analysis and provide legal timely, effective and practical guidance in a fast-paced in-house setting under the direction of the General Counsel.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: JD Degree and 7+ years job-related experience. Licensed to practice law in Connecticut. Membership in the Connecticut Bar Association. Extensive experience in labor and employment law, with some experience with healthcare fraud and abuse and other healthcare regulatory issues; accreditation and licensure issues and medical staff and credentialing matters; patient care, risk management and bioethical issues; healthcare operational issues and agreements, including medical directorships, call coverage, physician recruitment and hospital based arrangement; and healthcare transactions. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to translate legal complexities into terms understood by management and line personnel. Excellent analytical, research and negotiation skills. Ability to exercise independent judgment. Strong client management and project management skills and the ability to work independently and within a team.
