Job Overview:
A law firm is seeking a mid-level associate to join its Real Estate & Land Use Department in Los Angeles. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of experience in commercial real estate finance, specifically representing lending institutions in affordable housing matters. The position offers a dynamic work environment and provides opportunities to work on sophisticated real estate transactions, including agency financing transactions involving Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Location:

Duties:

  • Represent lending institutions in commercial real estate finance transactions, with a focus on affordable housing matters.
  • Advise clients on affordable and mixed-income/mixed-use housing and community development transactions.
  • Work on agency financing transactions, including those involving Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
  • Collaborate with legal, business, and client teams to deliver effective solutions.
  • Draft and negotiate complex real estate finance documents.
  • Provide strategic advice to clients in the real estate sector, particularly in affordable housing.
  • Participate in business development and client relationship management.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years of commercial real estate finance experience in a sophisticated law firm setting.
  • Experience representing lending institutions in affordable housing transactions is preferred.
  • Familiarity with agency financing transactions, particularly those involving Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with clients, business teams, and legal teams.
  • Excellent academic record and writing skills.
  • Strong oral communication and negotiation skills.
  • Must be admitted to the California Bar.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in California.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of real estate finance transactions, particularly in the context of affordable housing.
  • Strong research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
