Probate Litigation Associate Attorney Duties: Manage case progression. Develop strategy and participate in strategy discussion. Determine priorities and identify issues. Delegate to and supervise work of paralegals and assistants. Review and edit paralegal drafts of probate documents for formal probates, informal probates, guardianships and conservatorships. Draft substantive complaints, motions, oppositions, correspondence and other pleadings for contested matters. Research and prepare accompanying memorandums for various probate issues. Draft and respond to interrogatories, subpoenas and document requests. Attend meetings and court hearings. Draft estate planning documents, including but not limited to, wills, revocable trusts, durable powers of attorney, health care proxies and irrevocable life insurance trusts.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: 2-4 years of experience. Desire to quickly develop expertise in probate litigation, a growing practice. Should have exceptional writing, analytical and legal research skills as well as the unique communication and interpersonal skills needed to effectively communicate with clients, colleagues, opposing counsel, the courts and financial institutions. Should have excellent academic credentials and must be able to work independently, with minimal supervision and be highly organized and responsive. A team player with a collaborative spirit and a compassionate nature.
