Senior Legal Solutions Architect
Responsibilities: Establish and sustain strong on-going relationships with Practice Directors, Practice Heads, lawyers and other professionals who work in the Innovation Hours program, NextLaw, IT and other business partners. Focus of this role is to build cross-disciplinary teams that work well together across multiple projects. Build collaborative workspaces that assist and ensure this focus. Understand processes and business challenges faced by subject matter experts from all areas of the Firm and conduct gap analysis of current business process to identify improvement and automation opportunities Work through prioritization of projects based on Firm goals and strategies. Priority is given to solutions that support the practices and clients. Develop proposals for innovations solutions, including functional and data requirements, mapped processes of current workflows and recommended processes and workflows based on use cases identified through relationships with key members of the Firm. Build prototypes and minimally viable solutions for users to test and continue to refine until most, if not all, needs are met. Build a system to track requirements, issues, fixes, and future enhancements. Maintain focus of the team on project scope, ensuring that out of scope requests are tracked, and communicated to the group. As part of every solution delivered, ensure a custom implementation plan is developed and delivered to meet the needs of the user community. A variety of delivery methods is always preferred. Ensure data that can prove value and ROI is gathered and presented at regular intervals. Develop and maintain a knowledge of solutions available in the market, legal and external; not only new technologies but also use cases that demonstrate value and practical methods for implementation. Develop technical design specifications and translate technical design into process/ program specification and coordinate design review sessions. Participate in system configuration to satisfy business requirements in accordance with solution design. Prepare/ run reports, export and analyse data with an eye toward visualization of that data to make the stories told by the data more readily apparent. Support analysis of options, risks, costs versus benefits and impact.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) in a related field of work. JD or other advanced degree is a positive. 5-7 years of equivalent work experience in a law firm or large consulting firm is required. Strong understanding of digital process transformation and productivity improvement. Development experience with various software tools and platforms. Excellent listening, communication and presentation skills. Possesses ability to listen, identify issues and pain points for lawyers and clients, and develop strategies for creating solutions that solve those issues and pain points. Knowledge or experience in design thinking, lean thinking, or systems thinking methodologies will be an advantage. High level of curiosity and creativity. Like to work on puzzles is a plus. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Expert abilities in Microsoft Office Suite software including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Development knowledge of document automation platforms, expert systems, and collaboration workspaces and sites. Ability to solve problems with practical solutions and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardisation exists. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from lawyers and other professionals, Business Services Staff personnel, as well as clients. Be adaptable with an open mind, comfortable in a dynamic environment with excellent listening skills.
