Corporate Counsel, Privacy
The candidate will manage and advise on global privacy program, including developing and improving privacy processes and procedures. Evaluate impact of global data privacy laws (including GDPR, PIPL and CCPA), regulatory guidance and enforcement actions, and related guidelines; and advise the business of the same. Advise on, develop, and support compliance with privacy regulations, policy, and program requirements. Develop privacy-related policies and procedures and work to implement them. Assist with the day-to-day legal aspects of privacy investigations and incident response. Assist with data privacy related vendor due diligence. Assist with litigation, pre-litigation, and regulatory matters. Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in data use and protection laws. Work collaboratively and responsively to drive high-profile and high-impact projects with global stakeholders, including, but not limited to, other groups within Legal, Communications, Security, Human Resources, IT, and Sales & Marketing. Creatively build upon and drive awareness around privacy and data security issues, including developing and delivering training. Other privacy or compliance tasks, as required

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have J.D. Degree from an accredited law school and membership in at least one US State Bar. Should have 8+ years of legal experience at a law firm and/or in-house advising on regulatory, privacy, data protection and related matters. Should have experience with and strong knowledge of global data privacy laws, regulations, privacy programs and industry guidelines. Should have self-motivated team player with the ability to drive projects, identify/resolve legal and business issues with a large degree of independence, seeking guidance when necessary. Should have exceptional project management skills, attention to detail, and a proven ability to influence and collaborate across all levels of the organization. Should have a high degree of initiative in managing multiple priorities simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment, ability to establish and develop relationships of trust and confidence, high-performance standards, impeccable integrity, excellent judgment, well-honed analytical skills, good sense of humor, positive attitude, and flexible, practical, business-oriented approach. Should have the ability to analyze complex situations and develop simple, concise, and effective legal solutions. Should have the ability to communicate clearly, concisely and professionally, both in written and verbal formats, be able to travel, as needed up to 25%, highly proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Should preferably have prior experience working with a technology company, prior experience working in a corporate legal department, experience building a corporate privacy program, experience implementing CCPA, GDPR, or China’s Cybersecurity/Privacy laws, experience with privacy-related issues surrounding medical devices, prior experience with HIPAA, prior experience using the Serengeti/Legal Tracker System or a comparable e-billing system.
