Paralegal / Legal Assistant The candidate will be supporting multiple attorneys in the areas of litigation support, including e-discovery, government contracting, product liability, warranty, bankruptcy, distribution, commercial contracts, compliance and other areas as necessary. Perform basic legal research using on-line databases and prepare initial drafts of complex legal documents with appropriate guidance, such as: retrieve specific statute, regulation or case as requested by attorney; draft correspondence requesting additional information on claims; draft settlement/release documents and other standard legal forms; prepare chronologies from documents and witness interviews; conduct technical literature search and prepare synopsis; track bills introduced relevant to Company business. Perform factual research utilizing all available resources and recognize material facts, such as: gather and organize documents for production requests; draft, issue and manage legal holds; create key documents binder/index; investigate facts; contact Company personnel for information and arrange witness interviews; assist internal and external attorneys in responding to discovery. Review contracts for conformance with company standards; preparing certain form documents; obtaining documents from business units; create database of "boilerplate" contract language. Create and maintain routine and special reports and implement record retention schedules; revise/update policies and procedures; maintain and audit data in legal matter management system. Engage in problem solving of routine matters; such as: assisting Company personnel with subpoenas, investigations, class actions, settlement notices, claims and demands; preventive practices through identification of potential legal risks; development of case and legal theories. File and process standard documents, such as: track receipt of releases and dismissal documents; obtain settlement check approval and account information. Participate in department meetings and in group projects/teams. Document collection and witness interviews for discovery responses. Provides legal assistance to corporate attorneys. Acts as liaison between company attorneys, outside counsel, organizations and in-house employees. Compiles data from legal resource websites and other information sources. Assembles, proofs and edits drafts of contracts, leases, licenses and insurance policies. Prepares and files legal documents with appropriate entities, as required. Conducts research on projects as directed by corporate attorneys. May review and ensure the company's compliance with regulations. Assists internally in analyzing documents. Counsels on progress of cases. May assist with the review and preparation of patent material and applications. May require paralegal certification or law office experience and knowledge of office automation equipment/software related to activities.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have Associate’s degree and at least 1 year of paralegal experience OR 2 years of paralegal experience. 3 years of paralegal experience strongly preferred. Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree strongly preferred. Completion of an accredited paralegal program is desired. Should have excellent oral/written communication skills. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and website experience. Should have ability to manage computer databases and take advantage of office automation systems that support or simplify work. Familiarity/experience with e-discovery is preferred.
