Associate Counsel The candidate will report to the General Counsel and assist in providing hands-on counsel to all levels of executive staff. Will identify and analyze legal issues, draft key documents, present clear recommendations to top management, and assure legal compliance. Review and comment on any proposed changes to company standard form agreements including subcontracts and purchase orders. Review and comment on any proposed rental, credit and lease agreements. Assist with responding to and investigating potential personal injury and property damage claims on the company construction projects. Assist and manage outside counsel representing company in personal injury, property damage and workers compensation claims against the company. Assist in responding to documents requests and subpoenas in connection to litigation. Provide regular reports to parent company concerning issues legal department is handling. Assist company projects with submitting, pursuing and resolved claims for extra work and project delays. Assist projects with managing subcontractor disputes. Assist with insuring subcontractors and suppliers have the required insurance and are making regular payments to their laborers. Manage process of discharging public improvement liens and tracking the status of the liens. Represent company at Labor Union grievance hearings. Advise projects on the requirements of collective bargaining agreements. Draft and negotiate other standard agreements such as NDAs, Joint Venture, and Teaming Agreements. Should have a J.D. degree and be admitted to the New York Bar. Background in construction and engineering is a plus. Fluency with Spanish is a plus. Must be able to travel occasionally.
