Associate Attorney, Workers’ Compensation/Social Security Disability Duties: In Workers’ Compensation, will assist individuals who have been injured on the job file and pursue claims to recover compensation for their injuries, including medical bills and lost wages. In Social Security Disability, will work alongside other attorneys and paralegals, assisting individuals with physical and or/mental disabilities file and pursue claims for Social Security Disability and Supplemental Security Income. Gathering medical evidence and medical records. Represent the interests of the claimant at hearings, trials, depositions, oral arguments, and other proceedings. Taking depositions of the physicians, medical experts and other parties. Negotiate settlements on behalf of the claimant. Performing legal research. Remaining up to date on developments in the law. Drafting appeals, rebuttals, memorandum of law, briefs, opinions and other legal documents. Litigating cases before a workers’ compensation law judge or Social Security Administrative Law Judge.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Must be admitted to the NYS Bar. Strong knowledge of PC applications, Windows, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). Strong oral advocacy, writing and analytical skills. Ability to handle large caseloads and juggle multiple priorities and deadlines. Preferred Experience: Workers’ Compensation or Social Security Disability experience.
