Assistant General Counsel (Product/Privacy)
Responsibilities: Provide substantive input at each stage of the development lifecycle; instill privacy-by-design principles from inception to launch; lead day-to-day support for Product, Engineering, and Clinical teams. Partner with Security to design, implement, and run a comprehensive Privacy program, including CCPA/GDPR compliance and training to drive awareness of obligations and objectives; navigate overlapping regulations (e.g. HIPAA, ERISA, ADA) and advise on their impact to the business; support the company’s incident response plan and associated reporting requirements. Facilitate Sales, CS, Business Development, and other teams’ efforts to establish data sharing relationships with health plans, customers, ecosystem partners and service providers; drive discipline to maintain strong data (PHI/PII) processing practices from receipt to destruction, including through DPAs, Business Associate Agreements, HIPAA authorizations and consents, etc. Provide key guidance to Castlight’s senior leadership team on privacy matters related to company’s operating plan, critical initiatives, product development, investor relations, and corporate and customer communications.

Qualification and Experience

Requirements: Strong academic background, including JD from a top US law school. Licensed to practice law, preferably in California. 8 – 12 years of experience, including at least five years working in-house on Product/Privacy. Subject matter expertise in CCPA/GDPR required; CIPP/US and HIPAA experience preferred. Demonstrable history of blending legal advice with business acumen to drive corporate goals. Desire and ability to be a creative and thoughtful partner to fantastic colleagues.
