Litigation/Real Estate Paralegal Responsibilities: Assist attorneys with all aspects of early dispute resolution and litigation avoidance, including: Fact gathering and investigation of claims and issues; Document gathering, review, analysis and production; Responses to subpoenas; Drafting litigation-related documents, including correspondence, settlements and releases, demand letters and other notices; Performing advanced legal research/Westlaw, Pacer, and court docket system searches; Managing outside counsel and third-party billing and use of Serengeti software system. Manage and assist with legal databases and processes relating to litigation, including: Litigation case files, including monitoring and ensuring compliance with key deadlines; uploading pertinent file documents and information into electronic format; Service of process; Litigation reporting (Sarbanes and other quarterly reporting); Litigation hold process; Case closing process. Assist with development of guidelines, management tools, and offering solutions to mitigate risks.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: 4-year degree business or related field or equivalent education and related experience. Paralegal certificate from ABA-approved paralegal school preferred. 5-7 yearsâ€™ experience directly related experience in litigation. Education, professional experience, desire to learn and work ethic may be considered if experience is not directly related to litigation. Direct experience with commercial leases and other contracts, land use, foreclosure and condemnation litigation. Experience with commercial real estate transactions preferred. E-discovery document review experience with data platforms such as Clearwell preferred. Strong analysis, problem-solving, and research skills, with ability to apply good judgment. Ability to prepare and present complex data in a simple, understandable manner. Ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees/customers and align and integrate with other departments within the company. Ability and flexibility to work under pressure and concurrently on multiple projects and deal with ambiguity in a time-sensitive and high-pressure environment. Proactively questions current practices; ability to identify root cause and corrective actions and drive improvements. Computer and systems proficiencies - strong skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, Power Point, Word, and Outlook); also Computer based research on Westlaw and dockets such as Pacer. Excellent communication and writing skills. Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle high volume of cases and issues. Ability to work with autonomy and be proactive with minimal supervision. Strong time management, organization and prioritization skills.
