Attorney The candidate will be reporting to a Deputy General Counsel, this position is responsible for a variety of transactional and commercial matters, including special projects. Will be providing proactive day-to-day advice to business segment managers and their teams on a broad range of commercial matters, including U.S. and international transactional matters with customers and vendors. Responsibility for all legal aspects of assigned business segments or projects. Collaboration in the development of commercial strategies. Negotiating, drafting, and reviewing commercial documents for business segments. Collaborating with other professionals on a diverse range of matters, including technology licensing, protection of intellectual property, regulatory compliance, litigation/disputes, real property, environmental, and other matters. Fostering strong relationships and transparency with all stakeholders, developing an understanding of business segment strategies and objectives to better serve their needs, and lending support to an exciting, sophisticated, fast-paced in-house legal department at a growing aerospace company. Researching legal principles and precedents. Consulting with outside counsel regarding legal strategies on particular issues. Providing consultation to other members of the legal department with respect to commercial transactional matters. Assessing and developing strategies for effective risk mitigation. Undergraduate and law degrees from accredited reputable schools required, as well as high academic standing is needed. Must be a current member in good standing of the Kansas Bar or have the ability to become licensed to practice law in Kansas within 6 months of employment. Should have 4-7 years as a licensed practicing attorney in a major law firm, with a practice focus on commercial transactions. In-house experience a plus, if subsequent to significant law firm experience. Must have strong interpersonal skills and be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with employees at all levels of the company, including in communications to and with the company's executive leadership team and the Board of Directors. Should have excellent organizational skills and be able to perform efficiently and effectively on multiple projects under tight deadlines.
