Family Law Paralegal / Legal Assistant Duties: Prepare legal pleadings and correspondence Draft Case Information Statements Preparation of child support guidelines Maintain attorney calendar Schedule mediations, client meetings and court appearances Perform legal research. Primary manager of family case files from opening, discovery, inventories, mediation or trial. Assist in all aspects of trial preparation. Preparing and reviewing discovery packages, including disclosure statements, answers to interrogatories, and production requests. Maintaining effective and consistent communication with clients, experts and the Court. Assist with discovery which includes asking questions and collecting, organizing, and delivery documents necessary for the case.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: 2+ years of NJ Family Law experience. Paralegal certificate preferred. Knowledge of Family Law Software and Clio a plus. Must have a high level of empathy and compassion. Must be self-sufficient and able to deal well with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and co-workers in a professional and pleasant manner. Strong research and writing skills Must be proficient in Word, Outlook and Excel. Must have the ability to work independently but at the same time be a team player. Must be highly energetic and able to fill a fast-paced position. Must be organized, professional, motivated, and a self-starter. Excellent proofing, editing and communication skills (verbal and written). Have extraordinary attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
