Director, Business Affairs The candidate will structure, negotiate and administer business deals in connection with the development, production and post-production of firm television pilots, series and limited series, including (for example) deals for actors, directors, rights acquisition, writers, executive producers, line producers casting directors. Prepare concise yet thorough deal summaries for use by Legal department, production and finance groups. Review and approve program screen credits, promotional, publicity and marketing materials. Approve invoices and track payments to ensure compliance with contracts and guild requirements. Advise and assist Legal personnel in connection with drafting and revising agreements. Collaborate with a wide variety of internal personnel involved in the development, production and primary and ancillary exploitation of programming to identify and resolve business and legal issues. Should have 5 years of experience in television business affairs or as a transactional attorney at an entertainment law firm or television network/studio. Must have Juris Doctor degree from a law school of recognized standing plus a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree from a recognized university. Member of the California Bar is required. Extensive knowledge of entertainment law and working knowledge of applicable collective bargaining agreements (with series television business/legal affairs experience a plus) is needed. Substantial experience in series television business affairs, with prior entertainment legal experience is must.
