Vice President, Deputy General Counsel The candidate will be in contact with senior management, officers and employees of the company, regulatory agencies, professional associations, outside company counsel and counsel for providers and policyholders, and consultants. Manages and supervises attorneys, paraprofessional and line staff by assigning tasks, balancing and improving work flows and processes by leveraging technology, training, guiding, and motivating employees so they can perform to their maximum productivity levels, and giving timely feedback and assistance to provide the company with a solid legal department that is able to effectively address legal issues and concerns and perform assigned operational duties efficiently. Performs high level legal research and analysis in numerous areas of law and policy, often involving novel and complex issues to provide a thorough legal analysis of health care and insurance legal issues. Advises senior management of the legal ramifications of proposed corporate strategies, resolution of corporate legal issues, and legislative and regulatory developments to position the companies as the preeminent health care company. Provides legal services to execute corporate strategy. Drafts, edits, and analyzes a wide variety of documents, such as legal memoranda, state and federal legislation and administrative agency regulations to maximize the companyâ€™s strategic position in the marketplace. Must have JD degree and eligibility for admission to practice law in the State of Louisiana. Should have 10+ yearsâ€™ experience in the practice of law but expertise in relevant areas may be considered in lieu of years of experience. Extensive knowledge of either the health insurance or healthcare provider industry, including experience with applicable major laws and regulations, is needed. Excellent communication and writing skills for all levels of comprehension are required. Governmental, legislative, and management experience is required.
