Assistant District Attorney Responsibilities: All aspects of misdemeanor prosecution including initial intake of cases, gathering evidence, plea negotiations, subpoenas, witness preparation, interaction with law enforcement and victims, trial preparation, motions to suppress, probation revocations, preparing paperwork for court proceedings, handling dockets for Justice of the Peace courts and helping with felony court as needed.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: A JD Degree from an accredited law school is required. Must be currently licensed by the State Bar to practice law and in good standing or have the ability to gain admission by the date of hire. However, formal employment is contingent upon admission into the State Bar of Texas and successfully passing a criminal background check. Experience in criminal law is preferred through previous employment or an internship but is not required to apply. Spanish speaker preferred. Must have a highly self-motivated, hardworking, compassionate individual who is dedicated to prosecuting criminal cases. Must be able to multi-task, perform legal research, have superior communications skills, interact effectively with others and be self-disciplined.
