Assistant United States Attorney The candidate will prosecute a variety of federal criminal cases involving fraud, public corruption, money laundering, immigration, and violent crime. Responsibilities include grand jury, trial, and appellate practices. Must have a J.D. degree, be an active member of the Bar (any US jurisdiction), and 3+ years of post-J.D. legal or other relevant experience. Should preferably have significant experience in the investigation and prosecution of a wide range of violent crimes to include those involving firearms and narcotics trafficking. A record of working with law enforcement personnel during the investigation and prosecution of cases is crucial. If not a member of the Kentucky Bar, should become a member of the Kentucky Bar within a reasonable period of time. Should preferably have an outstanding academic record; 3-5 years of litigation experience; experience in the preparation and trial of complex cases; strong legal research and writing ability; and strong courtroom advocacy skills. Travel may be required throughout the Western District of Kentucky to attend court proceedings, interview witnesses, and attend meetings. Travel is also required for training.
