Senior Counsel, AI, Privacy and Security The candidate will keep privacy knowledge and skills sharp in a rapidly and constantly evolving landscape of privacy regulations in key markets throughout the world. Maintain and support privacy compliance throughout the company worldwide. Promote ethical frameworks for data governance and artificial intelligence. Assist with security audits and certifications. Manage Data Subject Request processes. Maintain privacy policies. Conduct privacy training and awareness campaigns for new and existing employees. Review customer and vendor contracts for data protection compliance including GDPR and LGPD Data Processing Addenda, Standard Contractual Clauses, CCPA Service Provider Agreements, and HIPAA Business Associate Agreements. Contribute to designing effective privacy and security program strategies and processes. Assist with risk assessments, privacy impact assessments, transfer impact assessments, and mitigation planning. Support cybersecurity event investigation, response, and notification if needed. Maintain deep familiarity with Afiniti’s services, products, and business. Monitor global regulatory developments affecting applied AI companies. Coordinate with other teams throughout the company with including Information Security, Compliance, Sales, Data and AI Strategy, Product and Engineering, and People. Communicate with counterparts at current and prospective customers, partners, and vendors to address DPIAs or other data protection questions and client assurance. Supervise outside counsel for worldwide data privacy and AI regulatory support when needed.
Qualification and ExperienceThe candidate should have 7+ years of privacy experience, including at least one role in a mid-size technology company with demonstrated excellence for similar privacy and/or security responsibilities. At least one privacy certification such as CIPP/US, CIPP/E, and/or CIPP/M is strongly preferred. Deep subject matter expertise with worldwide data protection regulations including GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, LGPD, and HIPAA. Working knowledge of standard security frameworks such as ISO 27001, ISO 27701, and HITRUST. A J.D. from an accredited law school and member in good standing of at least one US state or district bar. Undergraduate and/or graduate degrees in computer science, data science, or similar fields are preferred. Lifelong learner, analytical, organized, creative at problem-solving, and passionate about technology and data. Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of an organization. Excellent judgment, including in handling of sensitive and confidential information and high ethical standards with commitment to integrity and discretion. Collegial teammate with exceptional interpersonal skills and comfortable in multi-cultural environment with a global legal team, workforce, and client base.
