Paralegal The candidate will assist the company’s legal department in various ways on a wide range of issues. Will assist with the management of the litigation matters before the company. Will be expected to work closely with outside counsel. May involve locating and interviewing witnesses, taking witness statements, gathering documents and evidence, creating case investigation notebooks, organizing documents and creating a chronology of facts. Will maintain the various databases where litigation information is stored and will provide periodic reports regarding litigation to the Deputy General Counsel. Will likely expand beyond the litigation area and well into the business area. May assist the business with research projects, contract review and negotiations, and the drafting of agreements, documents for filings and letters that span a variety of issues, including FERC, regulatory, transactional and real estate matters. Contracts include confidentiality agreements, professional service contracts, and letter agreements. Provides support to legal department in various ways on a wide range of issues. Support may include, but is not limited to may assist the business with research projects, contract review and negotiations, and the drafting of agreements, documents for filings and letters that span a variety of issues, including FERC, regulatory, transactional and real estate matters. Contracts include confidentiality agreements, professional service contracts, and letter agreements. Maintain the various databases where litigation information is stored and will provide periodic reports regarding litigation to the Deputy General Counsel.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: Associate's Degree or higher in Paralegal Studies/relevant field of study plus 3 years’ experience. HS Diploma with Paralegal Certification plus 5 years’ experience. Experience at a law firm or in the legal department of a company. Knowledge and experience conducting legal research. Litigation focus preferred. Able to work accurately in an environment with deadlines. Able to work independently. Able to handle several projects at one time and to prioritize. Excellent organizational, verbal and written communication skills. Should have strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills are also essential to the day-to-day tasks of the job. Will require extensive communication with our outside counsel.
