Legal Counsel
The candidate will advise the Company on matters of employment law. Work with Human Resources and management to ensure compliance with laws and regulations in various jurisdictions. Assist with updating and developing internal policies. Review and negotiate contracts for engineering, construction, and general business agreements. Support General Counsel on various construction law and general legal matters. Provide risk management advice on projects. File liens and pursue collections actions on delinquent accounts. Report and monitor insurance claims. Conduct in-house training on employment and other legal issues. Conduct legal research on various matters and reporting to General Counsel. Analyze sources of law such as statutes, rules, regulations, judicial decisions, and legal articles and follow new case law and legislative action relevant to the Company. Conduct document reviews and managing discovery responses.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have a Juris Doctor from an accredited law school. Admission to the bar in the state of Kansas or ability to be admitted under Kansas Supreme Court Rule 712 is required. Should have 5+ years of experience in a law firm or corporate legal setting, including significant experience in employment law – preferably with additional experience in the A/E/C industry. Should have experience conducting training related to employment issues and experience with reviewing complex documents. Should possess strong leadership skills and are prepared to be a thought partner for the Company. Should be highly proficient in online legal research. Enjoy working collaboratively as part of a team. Should have high degree of professional ethics. Possess exemplary written and verbal communication skills, ability to work independently with minimal supervision, ability to prioritize and be responsible for multiple projects while maintaining a great attention to detail and organization.
