ADA Compliance Specialist Candidate will help create a safe and productive environment and working experience for all employees. Will evaluate requests for accommodations, which can range from reconfiguring physical space to adjusting working hours, and figure out the best way to support the employee. Duties include assessing employee accommodation needs and making accommodation plans. Gathering supporting information, including medical data, for documentation. Ensuring that both the business and employees’ needs are met. Evaluating restrictions and accommodations to make sure they comply with policy and any existing agreements. Representing the company in arbitrations and trials on occasion.
Qualification and Experience
Candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree or 4+ years of work experience. 4+ years of relevant work experience is needed. Experience with the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) and FMLA (Family and Medical Leave Act) is required. Law degree is preferred. Ideally, if practiced. Advanced degree, ideally, in human resources management is desired. Experience with current statutes, regulations and guidance issued by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) pertaining to ADA accommodations is a plus. Familiarity with collectively bargained medical restriction plans, ADA case law, or CBAs and bargained for plan documents that provide uniform treatment for associates is preferred. AMTS/PeopleSoft (or other case management tools) experience is desired. Job Accommodation Network (JAN) programs or Computer/Electronic Accommodations Program (CAP) experience is desired.
