ProfileHearings Referee (Hearing Officer Treatment Court) DUTIES: Conduct various hearings, including those relating to probation violations, and resolve motions/make decisions in designated cases. Issue warrants for failure to participate in program requirements. Investigate facts of each case by examining evidence and testimony. Make findings of fact and conclusions of law; transmit findings, recommendations and/or orders to a judge. Instruct parties at hearings as to their rights. Rule on the relevance or admissibility of evidence. Issues subpoenas for the attendance of witnesses or the production of evidence. Attend and participate in committee meetings for treatment court for purposes of establishing or changing policy. Confer with members of the treatment court team and attend weekly meetings. Assist with the development of treatment court policies, goals, and objectives. Advise or consult with judges on points of law, findings of fact, recommendations, and methods of operation related to treatment court. Preside over weekly treatment court hearings.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Must currently be approved by the Oregon Supreme Court to sit as a circuit court judge pro tempore. OR must be approved and complete the process to sit as an Oregon circuit court judge pro tempore within 60 calendar days of the date of hire (additional days to complete the process may be granted to address circumstances beyond the control of the candidate).
