Legal Assistant Responsibilities: Answer telephone, calendar appointments, and take messages; Gather, track and record client data; Meet with clients, gather supporting documents, prepare translations; Engage in community outreach; Prepare filings for immigration court and for the Department of Homeland Security; Manage both electronic and paper case file including client case log; Handle incoming and outgoing mail.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Bachelorâ€™s degree or comparable knowledge and work experience. Previous experience working in a law office preferred; Demonstrated experience working with immigrant, low-income and/or vulnerable populations; Fluency (written and verbal) in both the Spanish and English languages; Capacity for working both independently and on team projects; Ability to thrive in a high-paced work environment, while maintaining procedural and ethical integrity; Excellent written and oral communication skills; Excellent organizational skills; Proficient in use of technology including MS Office, Google Apps and Internet research.
