Medical Assisting Adjunct Instructor The candidate will instruct classes as scheduled in the time allotted. Will follow the recommended course schedule to complete terminal performance objectives. Turn in daily attendance records by the end of classes each day. Keep an accurate record of each student’s progress in each course taught. Turn in grade reports as required and follow up on incomplete grades given to students. Actively follow up on attendance and academic problems to facilitate improvement of student and success retention by keeping the Program Director informed of any student, class, or academic issues. Other duties as assigned. Encouraged to attend meetings, orientations and school functions. Participate in professional development activities each year. Provide input on course improvements and curriculum planning to the Program Director. Able to schedule and teach classes in the time allotted. Required to interact in a professional and effective manner with students and co-workers.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have a degree which is one level above what they would be teaching. More specific requirements for faculty members’ course assignments are as follows: General Educational classes – Hold a master’s degree in the assigned field based on their major; Business classes – Hold a master’s degree in Business Administration; All other classes – Hold a master’s degree in their assigned field; Associate courses; Occupational classes – Hold a bachelor’s degree appropriate to the subject taught except for those subjects in which a bachelor’s degree is not generally available. Must have Academic Associates degree or AA degree (Paralegal program) – In general, a master’s degree is required for the assigned field based on their major or minor academic preparations. ust have earned 18 semester hours or the equivalent in the discipline. Diploma or Non-Degree courses: General Education classes – Hold a master’s degree in the assigned field; or a master’s degree with at least 18 semester credit hours in the discipline. All other classes – Must have demonstrated competency in the assigned field such as experience, vocational training, licensure or certification. Able to communicate effectively verbally and in written form. Proficiency with software including Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel preferred. Must be able to speak, hear, read, write, use a keyboard and lift 25 lbs occasionally. Must be able to tolerate exposure to fluorescent lights and computer monitors.
