Domestic Violence Staff Attorney The candidate will be responsible for providing legal assistance to eligible clients of the program and to be an integral part of the organization’s efforts to be a partner in the state justice community. Some variance may be present due to differences in office and staffing size. Perform intake interviews for applicants and assists in screening of clients for eligibility for full representation. Provide high quality legal assistance to eligible clients on matters pertaining to their situations. Maintain a caseload commensurate with abilities and caseload difficulty. Comply with all applicable regulations, policies and grant requirements. Maintain the highest ethical standards as a member of the State Bar and stay current with updates and changes to the law. Support, promote and participate in the program’s PAI and volunteer activities. Support, promote and participate in community education, outreach and developing good public relations with the client community, state and local bar and other community groups. Direct and monitor activities of volunteers and paralegals as requested by management. Ensure that all applicable client files, data and reports are accurate and complete. Demonstrate knowledge and expertise of the law and legal system. Embrace and support the Organization’s overall mission, standards, policies and procedures, and confidentiality guidelines. Perform other duties and projects as required by management.Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have Juris Doctorate Degree from a certified law school. Oklahoma Bar membership or eligibility to take and pass next Oklahoma Bar examination is needed. Should have 3+ years of experience in the practice of Family Law, with meaningful experience in all aspects of representing survivors of domestic violence. Must possess litigation skills and experience, a passion for justice and true empathy for the impoverished. Attorney applicants are required to have a J.D. from an accredited law school and be admitted to practice in Oklahoma. Should have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must have good mentoring skills. Strong legal research skills. Should have strong ability to prepare for and present evidence at trial. Must have good analytical skills. Should have strong proficiency in The candidate ompany’s case management system.
