Contract Administrator / Paralegal The candidate provides administrative and other support to assistant attorneys general in performing their duties as it relates to FEMA matters. Plans, organizes and directs the administration of disaster related contracts for the proper management of disaster related contracts. Provides general support to assistant attorneys general by drafting correspondence to and scheduling meetings regarding hurricane related matters with contractors and government agencies such as the Department of Property and Procurement, Department of Licensing and Consumer Affairs and Public Works. Assist with drafting, preparing and reviewing hurricane related contracts for goods and services. Prepares change orders and supplemental agreements that may occur during the life of the disaster related contracts and maintaining security precautions that relate to the preclusion of dissemination or disclosure prior to negotiations of confidential or official information contained in disaster related contract files. Prepares correspondence and other documents as directed by the assistant attorney general relating to new lease agreements, renegotiating of lease agreements or enforcement of existing lease agreements as a result of the hurricanes which damaged many government buildings and have led to the relocation, remediation or consolidation of government offices. Assists attorneys in preparing for court hearings/trials and administrative proceedings in hurricane contractual disputes and any other hurricane related claims. Provides administrative support to attorneys as they investigate, identify and prosecute illegal hurricane disaster related activities, such as fraudulent activities relating to recovery and cleanup operations, unscrupulous contractors who scam home owners, fake charities claiming to provide relief for victims, and individuals submitting false claims for disaster relief. Performs other duties as assigned relating to disaster related matters.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in business or public administration or Advanced Paralegal Certification and 3 years of responsible administrative experience. Working knowledge of public contracting required. Knowledge of the V.I. rules and regulations and procedures governing contract administration is needed.
