AVP, Major Case Unit Responsibilities: Provide leadership to assigned staff by leading organizational change; developing and empowering staff; cultivating relationships; putting staff in a position to succeed, meeting their personal career goals while also achieving organizational goals; building effective teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals; driving engagement and creating a climate where staff are motivated to do their best. Review, evaluate and extend authority on cases at the Field level that exceed Field reserve authority. This includes providing guidance and strategy for cost effective resolutions. Ensure that the highly complex exposure claims are being handled pursuant to Claim Guidelines. Ensure proper utilization of vendors: independent investigators, appraisers, and experts. Assist in the development and updating of the approved attorney list for handling complex litigation. Collaborate with the MCU Directors to determine the best strategies to bring files to cost effective resolutions. Review files to identify subrogation/contribution/SIU opportunities. Ensure accurate/timely loss/expense reserves are set on files in compliance with Claim Guidelines. Provide training on evaluation, litigation management, negotiation training and other areas of claim handling where needed. Travel as needed. Perform other duties as necessary.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Bachelors’ degree with 10 years of relevant claims experience or equivalent (JD degree preferred). Equivalent experience is defined as 14 years of relevant claims experience. Have 5+ years of management experience within a complex claims unit. Should have 5+ years liability claim experience, which focused on claims with an exposure of $250,000 or more including both primary and excess losses. Litigation experience. Mediation experience. Must be able to travel as needed. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
