Paralegal/Docketing Specialist The candidate will be working directly with the firmâ€™s staff of patent attorneys and paralegals. Will be responsible for managing the firmâ€™s case dockets and deadlines supporting client relationship managers in all aspects of patent prosecution. Will maintain patent docket in CPI Patent Management System, including the daily docketing of incoming correspondence from the USPTO, WIPO, as well as foreign patent offices and outgoing correspondence while proactively monitoring the docket to ensure that all deadlines are met. Responsible for the distribution of daily reminders, weekly docket reports, and generate customized docket reports as needed. Preparation of documents and review of technical/patent related documents, such as correspondence and filings covering all aspects of U.S. patent prosecution. Include editing applications, coordinating and communicating with clients, drafting correspondence, preparation of Information Disclosure Statements, assignment recordations, inventor declarations, application data sheets, continuing applications, etc. Performs on-line research via public access websites, PAIR system, USPTO, and Foreign PTO. Organization and maintenance of electronic client files. Assist with other administrative tasks, as needed.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Bachelorâ€™s Degree from a 4-year University mandatory. Should have 3+ years of experience in patents in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Graduate of a paralegal training program with certificate or equivalent work experience is essential. Strong computer skills absolutely required, including proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and other software programs is essential. Excellent written and oral communication, problem solving, and interpersonal & motivational skills. Curiosity for constant learning and process improvement/optimization is essential. Must be a strategic thinker and capable of designing, implementing, and maintaining new systems and processes. Must have 4+ years of experience in docketing as Paralegal. Bachelor's education is essential. Paralegal certificate is essential.
