Junior Paralegal Coordinates Patent proofreading work. Manages IDS references using a reference management tool such as Claimbot or AppColl. Prepares and files Information Disclosure Statements (IDS). Prepares and files PCT applications. Prepares and files documents with the USPTO including applications, responses, and issue fee payments. Reports out to customer items filed. Uploads documents into Customer’s document management system (DMS). Calculates fees due to the PTO. Reviews office actions and other communications for the PTO and develops preliminary draft of response which includes pending claims and statement of the grounds for rejection. Prepares Due Diligence Reports for Trademark Watch Notices and Trademark Misuse cases. Opens records in docketing systems (e.g., ecounsel). Communicates with customers. Assists in monitoring the paralegal work queue for work requests and due dates. Records time and billing entries in a time tracking/billing system such as IP Tools. Tracks customer specific data in spreadsheets for monthly and quarterly reports. Coordinates customer-billing issues with the accounting department. May act as backup to other staff in their absence. Performs all other duties as assigned and required. Performs clerical duties in office environment. Projects and data are time sensitive and must be performed with a high degree of accuracy and detail and within strict established deadlines.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have high school diploma or GED certificate and 2+ years of post high school education. Associate’s degree in Paralegal or Paralegal certification is preferred. Must have knowledge of Microsoft Office products and superior analytical skills, with strong ability to review and organize numerous documents in complex legal matters.
