Planning Manager The candidate will be responsible for oversight and management of the day-to-day operations of the Planning Section of Capital Planning. Responsibilities include: Supervise staff. Plan, assign and review work of subordinates. Assist in the development, management, and implementation of the financial component of NYCHA's 5-Year Capital Plan. Ensure budgetary information is entered into the Oracle system and updated as necessary. Make certain project cost and staffing data is gathered efficiently and accurately so planning is appropriate and balanced. Monitor budget and expenditure reports. Collect and analyze exception reports and determine corrective action if necessary. Prepare status reports and summarize issues requiring senior management attention. Make presentations to professional, business, government or community groups as requested. Monitor and track daily, weekly and monthly capital spending. Prepare reports that focus on project and budget overruns. Recommend priority placement of projects within the Capital Plan based on available and anticipated grant year funding. Prepare weekly and monthly capital projections. Evaluate staff performance and take corrective action if necessary. Must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in engineering, architecture, landscape architecture, business administration, or public administration, and 5 years of full-time satisfactory experience in the planning, administering or expediting of engineering design, and/or construction, or coordinating a very large engineering project, 2 years of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity; or A four year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and 9 years of experience as described in "1" above; 2 years of which must have been in an administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory capacity; or Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above. An accredited Master's degree in one of the disciplines described in "1" above, a law degree, or a valid New York State license as a Professional Engineer or Registered Architect or Landscape Architect may be substituted for 1 year of the required experience. However, all candidates must have the 2 years of the administrative, managerial, executive or supervisory experience as described in "1" above. Should preferably have 5 years of managerial and supervisory experience. Excellent verbal and written communication skills desired.
