Assistant Attorney General The candidate should have 2 years of litigation experience to serve as an Assistant Attorney General in its Civil Litigation Division. Appear and defend all civil actions in which the state is an interested party in Nebraska’s trial and appellate courts, including torts, contract claims, civil rights, administrative appeals, employment claims, inmate claims, and state insurance claims. The preferred candidate is an attorney with substantive experience in pre-trial litigation and at least some trial experience or with federal or state court clerkship experience. The preferred candidate must demonstrate an ability to excel as part of a team of attorneys, possess a strong desire to be in the courtroom, and demonstrate an interest in government service. Graduation from an ABA accredited law school required. Admitted to practice law in Nebraska or ability to obtain admission from another jurisdiction. 1 year as a judicial clerk or 2 years of civil litigation defense experience in a law firm or government agency required. Strong legal writing and oral advocacy skills required. Trial experience required. 3+ years of substantive civil litigation experience in a law firm required.
