Vice President, Legal Employment/Privacy/Immigration Duties: Manage threatened and pending employment and labor-related litigation and disputes for the lottery business and its subsidiaries around the world. Supervise outside counsel, including in the development of litigation and dispute resolution strategies, drafting of legal pleadings, and preparation of and approval of legal budgets, proposed staffing, and law firm invoices. Negotiate and resolve pre-litigation claims asserted by or against Scientific Games. Conduct training for internal clients on a wide variety of compliance and risk mitigation strategies and measures. Conduct internal investigations, together with other attorneys and Compliance personnel. Provide advice on the full range of labor and employment law issues, including hiring, leave and accommodation, discipline and termination of employees, and compensation and benefits. Draft and/or provide guidance on the drafting and development of employment and HR-related policies and procedures, including those regarding employee discipline and termination, wage and hour classification, and affirmative action, and other hiring policies. Negotiate resolution of pre-litigation employment-related claims. Negotiate, draft and/or interpret agreements that involve labor and employment issues. Manage the company’s outsourced immigration specialists that process and oversee work visas and other immigration matters. Advice on data privacy issues, including those relating to the GDPR data privacy regime in the European Union, and occasionally CCPA and monitoring of new laws. Consult with outside counsel and the company’s external Data Privacy Officer on compliance matters. Provide support for the company’s Data Governance Organization framework and manage the company’s Privacy-Shield certification. Provide Data Privacy Training to company personnel. Coordinate with other departments, including Compliance and IT Security, regarding the storage and management of information. Help draft data privacy and data protection policies and protocols. Oversees and directs the work of directors, managers and their subordinates. Larger scope; more strategic impact than Director.
Qualification and ExperienceQualifications: Current member in good standing, or registered in-house counsel, with the Bar of at least one U.S. state. Should have 7 years of relevant experience at a national law firm, in-house at a comparable company, or some combination thereof. Expertise in providing advice and counsel on labor and employment law topics; a candidate with immigration experience is strongly preferred. Some experience with data privacy law topics is desired. Excellent writing and negotiation skills are essential. Excellent communication skills.
