Real Estate Manager The candidate will work with internal university clients to develop space requirements for leasing off campus. Will draft, review, and revise various types of transactional agreements in connection with real estate management and leasing in a high volume environment. Examples of documents would include, commercial office leases; commercial retail leases; renewals, amendments, terminations, license agreements, estoppel certificates, SNDA’s, letters of intent, settlement agreements and letters, lease guarantees, lease commencement agreements, telecommunications agreements, and other real estate related transaction documents and letters. Research and interpret lease language in consultation with attorneys, and provide information and guidance related to real estate and lease matters, as requested by property managers, brokers, and senior administration. Review / interpret lease terms from brokers’ proposals, deal spreadsheets/term sheets and LOI’s required for drafting lease agreements confirming rates agreed to in proposals and LOI’s are translated accurately into lease documents and proofread drafts of legal documents. Tour and evaluate prospective sites, and routinely, visit and inspect properties. Facilitate and track routing and signature of various documents/forms/lease documents. File, fax, scan copy and distribute lease documents and other correspondence for execution and dissemination. Responsible for the overall control of original lease documents and backup materials, including administration and maintenance of master lease files. Ensure the set up of all lease documents into electronic files in accordance with university and system requirements. Abstract lease terms in lease management system and coordinate with team members to ensure consistent file maintenance and management. Assist team with all aspects of processing lease documents for lease execution. Utilize, update and manage all tools and resources available to manage workload, including checklists, databases, logs and/or other related reporting tools. Work in collaboration with other university departments, i.e., accounting, asset management, legal counsel, construction, planning and design, clients, and other team members. AMT (ensure leases are abstracted correctly in database and review/approve payment batches). Assist other team members with special projects and assignments as needed.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate must have experience with AMTdirect or other similar lease management data base/systems. Must have advanced level of proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Must have extensive document drafting experience, including redlining, and comparison features. Experience calculating rents is required. Paralegal experience is a plus. Undergraduate degree from four-year institution preferred. Several years of experience with lease administration functions, invoice review, and payment processing in a leasing/real estate field or equivalent combination of transferable education and experience is preferred. Several years of experience abstracting commercial real estate lease documents, or equivalent combination of transferable education and experience is preferred.
