Senior Counsel, Environmental, Health, Safety & Security The candidate will be key member of the company legal and Environmental, Health, Safety & Security ( teams, with primary responsibility for providing Environmental, Health, Safety & Security ( legal support for Environmental, Health, Safety & Security programs and operations in the Americas region. Tasks include advising on all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security aspects of company activities in the Americas Region, including legal/regulatory requirements, EHSS liabilities, agency investigations and enforcement actions, due diligence for corporate transactions, development and implementation of compliance assurance programs, and legislative and rulemaking advocacy. This position should be closely aligned with the site, regional, and global Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (including security and product stewardship) and manufacturing staff in a team-based approach to solving problems. Collaborate closely with the Chief Environmental, Health, Safety & Security Counsel, Americas Legal Affairs, regional Environmental, Health, Safety & Security ( leadership, SBU leaders, and regional Manufacturing leaders in serving regional EHSS legal needs. Assist sites in preparing periodic reports required by environmental regulations, developing permit applications, negotiating permits, and responding to enforcement actions. Assist regional EHSS staff in building and implementing robust and sustainable EHSS and compliance assurance programs and policies. Team with the regional Environmental, Health, Safety & Security ( staff and the sites to ensure compliance with permitting and regulatory requirements. Represent the business in investigations and enforcement activities by EHSS government agencies. Conduct legislative and regulatory advocacy at the state and federal level on EHSS matters to give the business operating flexibility and to reduce the risks of liabilities. Actively participate regional EHSS staff calls, meetings, and activities relating to the development and implementation of the Company’s EHSS strategy, goals, and processes. Work closely with Americas Legal staff on development and implementation of Legal initiatives and processes.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate should have law degree from excellent academic institution. Qualification as a counsel in good standing is required. Experience: 7+ years of EHS Legal experience with international law firm and/or global company. Experience in laws and regulations applicable to chemical industry. Experience in compliance assurance, permitting, government enforcement, regulatory advice and in EHS&S due diligence and negotiations for M&A projects. Experience working with diverse EHS&S teams and programs. Must have strong knowledge of EHSS legal / regulatory environment. Should have strong technical background e.g., chemistry, engineering, biology, environmental sciences.
