Senior Corporate Counsel The candidate will provide legal advice and services including advising management concerning state and federal legislation, regulations and other requirements applicable to firm business activities and initiatives. Will serve as a Senior Litigation counsel reporting to Deputy General counsel and ; Act as a member of the litigation team responsible for case handling, research, arbitration and trial of member and provider disputes , overall management and supervision of case load. Provide legal advice to firm entities to define and develop solutions to Litigation challenges impacting various product lines and programs. Review regulations, RFPs and other documents affecting such activities, and identifying and appropriately responding to Litigation risks or prevention. Support Litigation Department by assessing and translating complex legislation, rules and regulations into understandable information and facilitating analysis of compliance and implementation implications. Review, draft and negotiate contracts, policies and procedures and related issues in provider contacting arena. Manage outside counsel and direct, monitor and develop legal strategies in connection with litigation and arbitration disputes Under the supervision of Deputy General Counsel. Direct and conduct training and preventative law activities for Appeals and Grievances and Medical management. Act as a lead Corporate Counsel on projects or certain matters per direction of Deputy General counsel.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should be graduate of an accredited law school and admitted into a state Bar (California). Must have 7+ years of experience in the areas of health and managed care law. Must have litigation experience. Experience with managed care is preferred. Knowledge of Medicare and/or Medicaid insurance, state insurance and HMO regulations is highly preferred. License/Certification: State Bar and currently in good standing is essential.
