ProfileLegal Assistant - Consumer Litigation Duties: Assist with preparing legal packages for collection litigation matters involving Westlake Financial Services. May involve some travel for witness appearances at trials, settlement conferences, and hearings. A significant amount of interaction with internal business associates, internal and outside legal counsel, as well as customers and/or opposing counsel. Will be able to handle all aspects of litigation from pre-litigation to post-litigation remedies, claim and deliveries, repossession, collection and skip tracing. Additional responsibilities include the preparation of small claims and civil cases as well as the monitoring of cases with courts and outside attorneys. Basic understanding of Billing, Collections, Small Claims, Civil and Consumer Litigation. Modification and preparation of legal documents accurately. Work with recovery Vendors to ensure timely Asset Recovery and Disposition.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree, preferred. 1 Year of Auto Finance, Collections, or Customer Service. 1 Year of Legal Experience. Knowledge of Skip Tracing and Collection Techniques. Strong Organization Skills. Ability to work on schedules with attention to detail. Must have strong Communication Skills. Understanding of FDCPA and TCPA. Familiar with legal documents, small claims and civil process and procedures. Strong spreadsheet and web based skills. Needs to be a self-motivated employee. Basic Computer Skills (typing, faxing, scanning, email etc.). MS Office experience (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc).
