Assistant Federal Public Defender The candidate will provide direct representation of indigent persons charged with federal crimes in the Northern District of Alabama, on appeals to the US Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and in post-conviction matters brought in federal court. Must be a licensed attorney with significant experience litigating criminal cases and issues. Should be an active member and in good standing with a State Bar. Must have excellent research, writing and oral advocacy skills, experience in computer-assisted legal research, the ability to understand and manage complex factual and legal issues, a reputation for integrity, and a commitment to the representation of those unable to afford counsel.
