Description

Henderson, Caverly, Pum & Trytten LLP is widely recognized as one of the most sophisticated firms specializing in the fields of estate planning, estate and trust administration, estate and trust litigation, family law, civil and commercial litigation, and international private client services.

The firm is headquartered in San Diego with 13 attorneys, including four ACTEC fellows, with offices in San Diego, Rancho Santa Fe, Pasadena and Los Angeles, and Irvine California.  This position will be located at our principal office in Rancho Santa Fe.  Due to the current COVID-19 situation, this position may be subject to temporary remote work or a hybrid model of remote work and in office work depending on business needs.

We are seeking an estate and gift tax associate attorney with 3-6 years of experience working hands on with complicated estate, gift, and income tax planning strategies.

The associate will bring the talent and experience necessary to independently analyze complicated financial matters and make recommendations to our partners and their clients with regards to estate planning strategies. These services are designed to accomplish our clients' non-tax objectives in a tax-optimized manner.

Ideally, the associate is already contributing to the industry through professional speaking, writing, and involvement in professional organizations.  The associate will work under the supervision of the head of the San Diego Estates and Trusts Practice Group.  This is a partnership track position.

Successful candidates will have a JD from a top-tier law school and are licensed to practice law in the state of California. Please do not apply if you do not meet these requirements, as they are not negotiable.  An LLM in tax is desired, but it may be substituted with the right depth of experience.

We offer an exceptional work environment, with an outstanding professional and community reputation.  We value our firm culture, provide competitive pay, and offer comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, life and long-term disability insurance benefits, an open paid time off policy, 401(k) with employer contribution, and other benefits.

We focus on doing the best work for our clients while allowing high quality of life for our professional employees.  In that regard, we provide modest billable hour requirements (1,600 hours for senior associates) to ensure there is sufficient time for professional and personal development.

Please submit your 1) resume, 2) cover letter, 3) writing sample, and 4) salary expectation to careers@hcesq.com.  No telephone calls or walk-ins accepted.  Candidates are subject to background screening and reference checks.
