Legal Assistant Paralegal Candidate assist in the following: Civil Litigation for real estate, contracts, and business claims; Estate Planning; Corporate Formation and Governance; Alcoholic Beverage Control Licensing, Tobacco Licensing, and related licensing. Will be: Drafting legal documents, formal discovery requests, notices, interrogatories, motions and summaries of depositions. Locating and contacting witnesses, arranges for the interview and evaluation of witnesses, drafts witness declarations in proceedings and pretrial statements and assists with the preparation of witness testimony. Completing governmental and internal corporate forms for corporations and businesses, including Secretary of State, Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), local business licenses, fictitious business name registrations, and the like. Obtaining information and coordinating drafts of leases, wills, trusts, and other real estate and estate documents. May perform a number of other similar or related duties which may not be specifically included within this position description, but which are consistent with the general level of the job and the responsibilities described.

Qualifications: Must 1-4 years of experience as either a legal assistant or as a paralegal, ideally with relevant areas of law. Basic principles, concepts and methodology of legal proceedings and legal research. Basic experience in filling out governmental and corporate forms, including ABC. Knowledge of attorney client relationships applicable to the performance of major duties and responsibilities of the position. Principles of legal writing. Problem identification, analysis and evaluation. Principles of effective writing and verbal presentation. Business math for completing non-technical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. Computerized information and database record keeping systems. Computer information systems, including personal computer applications, work processing and spreadsheets. Knowledge of Westlaw or other computerized legal research system(s).
