Markets Regulatory Attorney Duties: Responsible for the analysis of complex legal issues and implications on regulatory matters of significant impact to GBAM’s Markets businesses. Provides advice on regulatory implications for new or existing products or services and manages legal coverage of regulatory change projects. Coordinates the work of outside legal counsel on related projects. Supervises activities of other legal department staff, including other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff. Individuals in this position typically have six or more years of experience since admission to the Bar. Working with the Regulatory team to manage major regulatory change initiatives, including derivatives regulatory reform, FICC markets structural reforms, data privacy, environmental, social, and governance regulation, IBOR transition, digital asset regulation and resolution stay and planning requirements. Working with impacted line of business attorneys to partner on regulatory implementation and advocacy. Supporting strategic advocacy efforts for Banking and Markets with regulators and lawmakers directly and through key trade associations. Representing the bank on key trade association and industry group efforts. Representing GBAM Legal in key internal governance, reporting and approval functions.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Must have a JD and at least one state bar admission (active/good standing). Must be licensed to practice in the appropriate jurisdictions. Should have 5+ years’ experience in regulatory or markets transactional experience, preferably advising clients on major regulatory change initiatives (either internally or as external counsel). Experience/familiarity with US derivatives regulation under Title VII is strongly preferred. Desired Skills & Experiences: Experience/familiarity with CFTC and SEC US derivatives regulation under Title VII preferred. Should be a self-starter and quick learner, and must be able to work independently and proactively. Should be someone who can handle multiple complex assignments and navigate a large institution. Must possess superior communication skills and must be able to work collaboratively with others in the Legal Department, the business, and across the company.
