Job Overview:
A leading law firm is seeking an experienced Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation Associate to join its team. This position offers flexibility with the option to work from offices in Cleveland. The successful candidate will counsel clients on a wide range of employee benefits and executive compensation matters, including the design, implementation, and maintenance of various compensation plans, as well as handling ERISA fiduciary matters and the benefits aspects of mergers and acquisitions (M&A). The candidate must have a strong background in employee benefits and a demonstrated ability to handle complex health and welfare, and qualified plan issues.

Location:

  • Cleveland, OH

Duties:

  • Counsel clients on employee benefits and executive compensation matters
  • Design, implement, and maintain tax-qualified retirement plans, health and welfare benefit programs, and non-qualified deferred compensation plans
  • Advise on incentive and severance pay plans
  • Handle ERISA fiduciary matters
  • Manage benefits aspects of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) transactions
  • Draft and review plan documents and agreements related to employee benefits and compensation
  • Work with publicly traded corporations, privately owned companies, financial institutions, and tax-exempt organizations

Requirements:

  • 3 to 6 years of experience in employee benefits and executive compensation law
  • Expertise in analyzing and drafting health and welfare benefit plans, and qualified retirement plan documents
  • Ability to manage complex benefits and compensation issues
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail
  • Ability to develop and foster client relationships

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school

Certifications:

  • Licensed to practice law in at least one . jurisdiction

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent drafting and writing skills
  • Strong interpersonal and client communication skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
