ProfileParalegal The candidate will assist, under the supervision of an attorney, cases for clients seeking representation in housing cases. Under the supervision of an attorney, will handle all functions related to case work from initial intake through extended representation of clients. Also have routine interaction with the Baltimore County Housing Office, social services organizations, and other housing stakeholders. Work with attorneys on cases or projects and some may perform non-casework functions. Screen clients for eligibility and make referrals, as appropriate. Conduct preliminary and subsequent interviews with clients and witnesses. Conduct factual investigations and analysis, and legal research. Perform litigation support, such as preparing discovery; drafting pleadings, correspondence and other documents; and supporting attorneys at trial. Assist in or develop case theory and strategy for the representation of clients. Provide administrative support, including scheduling appointments, hearings, stakeholders meetings, etc. Conduct community and institutional outreach and education. Perform other duties, as assigned; within the scope of the essential functions of the position. Must have basic written and oral communication skills and must demonstrate potential to perform duties of a paralegal. Ability to speak Spanish is highly desirable. Note : This is a temporary, grant funded position for a period of one year.
