ProfileLegal Assistant - Immigration The candidate will prepare immigration cases as assigned by manager for submittal to the appropriate government agency. Will work closely with manager to manage cases and to meet monthly filing goals. Understand the procedures and documentation required for cases to be filed successfully and following firm’s service standards. Work with clients to gather the necessary information and documentation in a timely manner. Prepare forms according to information received from clients. Prepare letters and other documents on behalf of the employer/client. Finalize documents after review by Practice Manager, Team Manager and/or Attorney. Ensure all deadlines are met. Provide information and assistance to clients regarding legal procedures (not legal advice). Update database(s) and utilize case preparation/management tools effectively and efficiently. Monitor status of all filed applications and petitions. Run reports to assist in managing own caseload. Make photocopies, send faxes and scan documents. Retrieve and/or return files, perform other duties as assigned; address envelops and package. Work with clients to obtain documents and information necessary to prepare applications. Draft support statements and organize documentations for filling. File and monitor applications and petition with appropriate government agencies. Perform research to obtain information such as background on a company or industry, current wages, processing procedures, stand processing times, etc. Initiate contact with government officials to obtain necessary information to alert supervising attorney of potential delays or possible problems in the processing of an application.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should preferably have a Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate. A Bachelor’s Degree specializing in English Language, Journalism, Communication, etc. a plus. Excellent English language skills, both verbal and written essential. Good general computer knowledge and typing skills, including word-processing, email, and forms software needed. Experience working in an office setting preferred.

Get it together and have a heart. Quit expecting people to worship the ground associate attorneys walk on. Also the free bagels on Thursdays are nice but come on.Pros : Your coworkers who are working in the trenches with you are genuinely good people and look out for each other.
